I finally have some digital pics of our boys, so I thought I would share them today. On the left is Wiley and on the right is Crash, our newest addition. They are both true to their names, Wiley is often referred to as Wild Man and Crash is a bundle of energy bouncing around and crashing off couches, tables...whatever he can get on top of.
Both were found abandoned at my parent's place. Wiley was found on the porch after my parents returned from church almost a year ago and he moved in with me when I moved back to Mt. Sterling last September. Crash was spotted June 1 with his mother in their backyard and on June 2 he was by himself in horrible shape. The vet thought he was only 5 weeks old at the time and we took him in since we had been talking about getting Wiley a playmate. They have both brought immeasurable joy to our lives.
Election day has come and gone and it didn't go too well in my corner of the world. My picks for our state rep. and commonwealth atty. did not win and I'm saddened by that because the former is an old family friend and the latter is Josh's old boss. At Josh's boss' campaign fish fry I did meet the man who did get elected our state rep. and he seemed like a very passionate politico who did want to do some good. He's not much older than me, within my decade, so it will be nice to have some young blood in the house.
Since the election is over, Josh can now go back to being an active member in the Montgomery County Democratic Party Executive Committee and he'll be bringing me along as a hopeful member if they still have the space. That will be a lot of fun, I need something political to do now that my political fantasy-land has taken its final bow with President Santos.
I am happy to report that my favorite on my political fantasy-land The West Wing, Bradley Whitford, will return to NBC this fall in Aaron Sorkin's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip along with my favorite Friend Matthew Perry. At least there's one show on the horizon that will get me through my West Wing loss next season. Also, a big congratulations to Wes and Amanda on their wedding this past Saturday, May 13. It is nice not to be seeing him blog on his honeymoon week.
Yes, April, I do have news to report and I have been remiss in not posting here for many moons. Since I have moved I have not renewed internet access at my house and my desk position in my workplace (and the busy activity as well) has prevented me from posting at all. I keep saying I'm going to get internet at home, but with $400 gas bills this winter and wedding expenses coming in, its a luxury I'm doing without.
So, here's a quick update before the boss men get here:
Josh and I got engaged on New Year's Eve.
Josh and I are getting married on September 16, 2006.
My wedding dress has come in and I am going to get it this weekend.
I am getting my bridesmaids together next weekend to get fitted for their dresses.
I'm a planner and this wedding has really brought out the planner in me. My sister gave me a large stack of bridal magazines and those with my own purchases are taking up much space in the living room as well as notebooks full of guest lists, song lists, gift ideas, websites, hair and makeup ideas, etc. Josh now thinks I should be a wedding planner in my next career. We are also going to start registering for gifts, at my mom's insistence, starting with a local gift shop in town on Saturday whose owners have known Josh since he was a kid. I'm also going to do another gift shop in town and of course, Target. Does anyone have any other suggestions? (Is anyone even out there besides April?) We're looking at a 200-250 guest list, so I think I may need another one. I hope this provided a good update, and I'll try to be on here more and maybe talk about something other than wedding stuff, but that's what's been occupying my time and will be until the big day. I hate to be one of those brides who all they talk about is the wedding and nothing else, as it has annoyed me in the past of my bride friends. So, next time I'll try to find a topic in a non-wedding category. And I won't make next time be months in length.
